What we hold, and who sees it.
Written in plain words on purpose. If anything here is unclear, that is a fault worth telling us about — team@practal.in.
Who this is about
Practal is a professional network for doctors practising in India. This policy covers what we hold about doctors who create a profile, and about anyone who contacts us. Write to team@practal.in with any question about it, or to exercise any of the rights below.
What we hold
Your mobile number, because it is how you sign in. Your name, your council registration and number, your specialty, and whatever else you choose to put on your profile — qualifications, where you have worked, where you trained, what you are looking for and what you expect to be paid.
If you upload a CV we keep the file and the details read out of it. If you do not, nothing is invented: the profile holds only what you typed.
We also keep a record of roles you applied to and introductions you accepted, and the ordinary technical logs a website keeps.
Who can see it
Hospitals do not have Practal accounts. A hospital briefs a Practal recruiter, and what it is shown about a doctor is the work — specialty, experience, city — not a name or a number.
Practal's own recruiters see your contact details once you have taken one of their roles forward: applied, been shortlisted, agreed to an introduction. Before that they see a masked record.
There is one exception and it is worth stating plainly: some recruiter accounts are granted contact access by an administrator, and those accounts can see the contact details of doctors on the network without an application. Administrators can see everything. Both are logged.
Your council registration number is shown to no recruiter and no hospital, ever. Practal checks it once to confirm you are a doctor and it stays with us.
Who else it passes through
MSG91 sends your one-time sign-in code, so they process your mobile number. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us the email address on that account and nothing else.
A CV you upload is sent to Google's Gemini API to be read into your profile. That is what fills in your degrees, colleges and posts without you typing them. If you would rather it were not, fill your profile in by hand and do not upload a file.
Practal runs on Google Cloud in India, and email we send is delivered through Resend. We do not sell anything to anybody, and we do not use your details for advertising.
What is stored on your device
A session cookie so you stay signed in, which is removed when you sign out. A small marker recording that this browser has been here before, which decides one button's wording and nothing else. Your light or dark preference. If you turn on notifications, the browser's push subscription for that device — remove it by turning notifications off for the site.
How long we keep it
Your profile is kept while your account exists. Ask us to delete it and it goes, along with your CV and your profile history. We keep the minimum needed for our own records of introductions actually made, because a hospital and a doctor both have an interest in that having happened.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act you can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, have it erased, and withdraw your consent. Every one of those is one email to team@practal.in and none of them costs anything.
You can also stop being visible to recruiters at any time from your own profile, without deleting anything.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we do with your details, we will tell you rather than quietly reposting the page.
